Mondo avviato verso la fine già nel 2012. Ma a questo punto la domanda sorge spontanea: che cosa pensavano i Maya della fine del tempo?
Mondo nuovo? Nonostante la credenza diffusa secondo la quale al termine di un grande ciclo tutte le cose avrebbero cessato di esistere, non c’è alun risontro la indicarono nel loro calendario, né una fine del mondo, né catastrofi al 21 dicembre 2012. Anzi, alcuni testi Maya di lungo conteggio riferiscono di date di mol i baktun dopo il 13 e perfino di un prossimo pictun (un’era 20 volte più lunga) e oltre. Per esempio, una iscrizione commissionata nel settimo secolo dopo Cristo dal re Pacal di Palenque, predice che un anniversario della sua ascesa al trono dovrebbe essere commemorato il 15 ottobre del 4772. Di tutti i testi di lungo conteggio scoperti, trascritti e tradotti, solo uno menziona la data chiave del 2012: il monumento 6 a Tortuguero, un sito Maya nello stato messicano di Tabasco.
Mondo alla fine? Boh, in realtà il testo è danneggiato, ma si riesce a capire che non implicava la fine del mondo proprio nel 2012.
Alcuni sostenitori della tesi catastrofistica dicevano che in realtà la causa della devastazione sarebbe stato un allineamento di pianeti. Ma non c’era nessun allineamento di pianeti nel solstizio invernale o lungo un qualsiasi altro giorno dell’anno del 2012.
Mondo al capolinea, o forse no?
In conclusione, tutti gli studi scientifici convergevano nell’indicare il 2012 come un anno analogo agli altri e nel fatto che la sua elezione a “anno del giudizio” non fosse nient’altro che un’invenzione di alcuni autori, scaturita da una loro interpretazione acritica del calendario Maya, al quale si è voluto attribuire un significato che non trova riscontro tra gli studiosi di questo popolo.
Nessuno però aveva previsto, o anche solo lontanamente immaginato l’arrivo del Covid-19…
