Lo scontro galattico dopo il Big Bang (I)

Big Bang: la collisione tra la galassia di Andromeda e la nostra (in gergo la Via Lattea), la più grande dopo il grande inizio, è prevista tra circa tre miliardi di anni. Noi possiamo stare tranquilli, ma che cosa vedranno i nostri “pro pro pro bis bis bis nipoti”?

Sperando che ancora ci sia qualcuno sulla Terra a interrogarsi sulla natura del Big Bang,… davanti agli spettatori (anche senza l’ausilio di occhialini 3D o altri device tecnologici ancora tutti da inventare e da sognare), si parerà sicuramente uno scenario notevole, anche perché consistenti davvero sono massa e dimensioni delle due galassie che, va ricordato, sono le due maggiori del nostro Gruppo Locale.

Dalle simulazioni sappiamo che ben difficilmente le stelle contenute in ciascuna delle galassie interessate potranno scontrarsi, visto che la distanza tra le singole stelle, all’interno di una galassia è relativamente alta (non sarà un altro Big Bang insomma…).

Se la teoria sono corretta, le stelle e i gas contenuti nella Galassia di Andromeda a un certo punto si renderanno visibili a occhio nudo. E poi? (continua)

The collision between the Andromeda galaxy and ours (in the jargon, the Milky Way) is expected between about three billion years. We can rest assured, but what will our “pro pro bis bis bis nephews” see?
Hoping that there is still someone on Earth … in front of the spectators (even without the use of 3D glasses or other technological devices still to be invented and dreamed), there will certainly be a remarkable scenario, also because they are really mass and size of the two galaxies that, it should be remembered, are the two largest of our Local Group.
From the simulations we know that very difficultly the stars contained in each of the galaxies involved will be able to collide, since the distance between the single stars inside a galaxy is relatively high.

If the theory is correct, the stars and gases contained in the Andromeda Galaxy will at some point become visible to the naked eye. And then? (to be continued)
