Sindone: la verità andando per esclusione
Sindone (Sacra o Santa) dixit Papa Giovanni Paolo II. Questi, infatti, aveva definito la Sidone: “Una provocazione all’intelligenza”. E, come accade in molti casi, non potendo stabilire ancora con una ragionevole certezza la natura di un oggetto (o di un fenomeno) si va per esclusione, incominciando a dire che cosa non è… E allora, dalle pagine Web del sito “Vatican Insider”, un giorno comparvero i risultati di uno studio dell’Enea – che non è il protagonista del poema di Virgilio (nonché mitico fondatore dell’Urbe), bensì la nota “Agenzia scientifica nazionale” – sulla Sindone, detta il “Sacro Lino”.
La ricerca, firmata da quattro studiosi, prendeva le mosse da un esame completo effettuato da un’equipe statunitense nel 1978 sulla Sacra Sindone.
E, nel rapporto, si affermava l’impossibilità di replicare (e quindi falsificare in laboratorio) l’immagine sindonica. Di fatto, sempre secondo gli studiosi, a oggi la scienza non sarebbe in grado di spigare come si sia firmata l’immagine corporea sulla Sindone. Un altro dato, comunque, è certo: viene definitivamente archiviata l’ipotesi che si tratti di un falso medioevale, epoca che ebbe termine con la scoperta dell’America…

And, as happens in many cases, not being able to establish with a reasonable certainty the nature of an object (or of a phenomenon) is found by exclusion, starting to say what it is not … And then, from the Web pages of the site “Vatican Insider”, one day the results of an Enea study appeared – which is not the protagonist of Virgil’s poem (as well as the mythical founder of Rome), but the well-known “National scientific agency”.
The research, signed by four scholars, was based on a complete examination carried out by an American team in 1978 on the Holy Shroud.
And, in the report, the inability to replicate (and therefore falsify in the laboratory) the Shroud image was affirmed. In fact, according to scholars, science today would not be able to explain how the body image was signed on the Shroud. Another fact, however, is certain: the hypothesis that this is a medieval fake is definitively archived …
