Fahrenheit 451: quando la censura si infiamma…
Fahrenheit 451 è il titolo di un romanzo sempre di stringente attualità, vedi il dibattito sui lacci e vincoli applicati alla Grande Rete: bavagli ai social, ai blog, alle ricerche ecc. Il problema, nel tempo, ha afflitto ogni tipo di media: prima di Internet, la Tv, la radio, i giornali e i libri (in rigoroso ordine, inverso, di apparizione).
Per quanto riguarda i libri uno dei roghi più famosi (anche se a livello letterario) è narrato in Fahrenheit 451, romanzo di fantascienza scritto dallo statunitense Ray Bradbury nel 1953: è considerato uno dei suoi due capolavori insieme a “Cronache marziane” con location su Marte.
Narra di un futuro (imprecisato), comunque successivo al 1960, nel quale leggere libri è un reato e i volumi vengono bruciati da un corpo speciale dei Vigili del Fuoco.
Il titolo prenderebbe le mosse, secondo l’interpretazione più accreditata, dalla temperatura di combustione della carta, ovvero 451 gradi Fahrenheit (corrispondenti a 232,78 °C), anche se la temperatura “ di accensione” varia da carta a carta, ovviamente. Peraltro, 451 è il numero presente sull’elmetto del protagonista, un pompiere ribelle-obiettore chiamato Montag, nome forse (interpretazione della redazione ndr) non casuale visto che in tedesco significa “lunedì” e uno dei giornali più conosciuti nella patria di Goethe e Schiller è il “Bild am Sonntag” (più o meno il “Giornale della Domenica”).
Mitica una delle scene finali della trasposizione cinematografica, targata 1966, a cura del regista francese François Truffaut dove i ribelli si raggruppano per tramandare oralmente il testo dei libri condannati alla distruzione e all’oblio…
In Italia venne tradotto, per la prima pubblicazione, ne “Gli anni della Fenice” animale mitologico già nominato varie volte nel mio blog…

Moreover, 451 is the number on the protagonist’s helmet, a rebel-objector firefighter called Montag, a name perhaps (interpretation of the editor’s note) not accidental given that in German it means “Monday” and one of the most popular newspapers in Goethe’s home and Schiller is the “Bild am Sonntag” (more or less the Sunday Newspaper).
