Dado… non è ancora chiaro se la “transumanza” del gioco dei dadi dal “vecchio” al “nuovo” mondo sia stata favorita dai coloni inglesi o francesi, ma è innegabile che i coloni “tricolori” hanno svolto un ruolo predominante nel diffondere il gioco dei dadi negli States, in particolar modo nella cittadina di New Orleans, patria dei Cajun. Detto che il fascino del dado, nella sua forma più conosciuta e tradizionale si ricollega al cubo, non è certo azzardato (aggettivo sempre in tema con il nostro) ricollegare il suo successo con il cubo più famoso dell’era moderna, ovvero il “Cubo di Rubick”.
Comunque sia, la passione per il gioco travolse ben presto i giocatori americani facendo diventare il gioco dei dadi sempre più diffuso e amato al pari, oggi, di poker e slot machine.
E, infatti, venendo a tempi più recenti e passando dalle legioni romane ai Marines, va ricordato che i soldati statunitensi, durante le pause tra un combattimento e l’altro, si rilassavano proprio giocando a dadi dalla seconda guerra mondiale in poi.
Ed è negli States che il gioco dei dadi prende il nome di “craps”, adottando le moderne regole a cui siamo abituati che, peraltro, non sono molto diverse rispetto a quelle usate fino a quel momento.
