Mouse dall’infrarosso al Raton
Mouse ottico, con e senza fili, con lo scroll o meno, con il tasto destro o no, è sempre il “compagno di merende” di milioni di utenti di Pc, Mac e Linux…
Mouse è il dispositivo che invia un input ad un computer in modo tale che ad un suo movimento ne corrisponda uno analogo del puntatore sullo schermo.
E come per ogni star che si rispetti, le origini del suo nome si perdono a metà strada tra storia e leggenda… Due infatti le versioni riguardo l’etimologia: la più popolare è che derivi dalla sua rassomiglianza al noto “roditore” (mouse, in inglese, topo); la seconda fa riferimento a un acronimo, a sua volta declinato in due versioni: “Manually Operated User Selection Equipment”, oppure Machine Operator’s Unique Spotting Equipment (a voi la traduzione).
Di sicuro la definizione più simpatica è quella in lingua spagnola: nell’idioma di Cervantes è infatti tradotto in “raton”, una sorta di “pantegana” informatica, dunque… (utile però!).

And as for any star, the origins of its name is lost halfway between history and legend … In fact two versions of the etymology: the most popular is that derives from its resemblance to the known “rodent” (mouse, in English, mouse); the second one refers to an acronym, in turn declined in two versions: “Manually Operated User Selection Equipment”, or Machine Operator’s Unique Spotting Equipment (to you the translation).
Certainly the most sympathetic definition is that in Spanish: in the idiom of Cervantes it is in fact translated into “raton”, a sort of “pantegana” computer, therefore … (useful though!).
